Sarah Cornell Named CAA Rookie of the Week

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra Softball freshman pitcher Sarah Cornell has been named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Cornell went 3-0 in the FGCU Invitational to remain undefeated on the season, including posting her first collegiate shutout. She posted complete-game 3-1 wins over Rutgers and Boston College while blanking Florida International, 2-0. The Panthers were receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll heading into the weekend.
Cornell finished the tournament with a 0.64 ERA, allowing just nine hits while striking out 15 in 22.0 innings pitched.
