Fernandez to Face Team USA on WNT Tour Stop

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse rising sophomore infielder Sammy Fernandez will have a chance to take on the 2015 USA Softball Women's senior national team this weekend as a part of Team USA's summer tour. Fernandez and her team will face Team USA this Saturday, July 11th at 6:30 p.m. at Moody Park in Ewing, N.J.
Fernandez and her squad will compete against multiple World Cup Gold Medalists, including Valerie Arioto, Raven Chavanne, Amanda Chidester, Samantha Fischer, Lauren Gibson, Haylie McCleney, Jessica Moore, Michelle Moultrie, Sara Nevins, Kelsey Stewart, and Jaclyn Traina.
In her first season for the Orange, the shortstop led the Syracuse squad in assists with 56. Fernandez ranked second on the team in hits with 42 and tallied 25 runs on the season. She also posted a .300 batting average during her freshman campaign.
