MLB teams have started to move into more ownership of their own A level teams, this will affect independent level A ball leagues, another example of cities moving away from independent A ball teams can be found in conversations in Amarillo, Lubbock if they decide to entertain a new ball park and others want an affiliated organization currently in Wichita Kansas the Wingnuts a team with rich history when it comes to being a winner on the field have been left out of conversations about a new ball park, the mayor of that city is attempting to find a AA or AAA team to play in the stadium he stated that[ players have a clearer ,more direct path to the majors. Independent players, while experienced, are often playing out their last months or years as professionals.]

The Wingnuts are part of the American Association independent A ball league, this being the argument made by most cities when looking to build a stadium for future use,the Wingnuts average attendance in 2016 was 3,080 for 49 home dates this number is above the average attendance numbers for most minor league organizations, but its not enough for the city of Wichita the mayor has placed his bet on affilliated baseball.

Indy baseball attempts to sell its prospect players contracts to affilliated teams but this model is being pressured out of baseball,by MLB teams owning more A ball teams themselves.

The RDB academy Texas Independent Baseball League u21 does not sell player contracts, we instead are operating with a futurist concept of contract to hire model and have moved into the direction MLB is moving with academies that develop young prospect level talent.
