Burleson Rustlers

Posted April 10, 2017

The Burleson Rustlers academy 21u baseball team will look to launch in 2019, conversations about the team started in 2007, but didn't evolve because of infrastructure though officials involved in those talks made a hardy effort to make it happen.

Today there is all that infrastructure in place a complete shopping complex, locations to dine and a good location that is partly in tact, Burleson once had a baseball complex that was slightly ahead of its time and looked upon as being a bad location over its years in the 1990's.

That location is just off I-35 right behind all of those dinning spots and just down the street a hotel, and across I-35 are those shopping spots making it a gem in today's marketplace, also located within a few miles is the local waterpark all the infrastructure needed to support a thriving baseball stadium.

The location has three intact baseball fields, two of which would be practice and game fields for 12u academy teams and other baseball events, supported by the Rustlers academy 21u rookie development class A level team, and a development soccer u21 team.

Each field should seat no more than 2,000 for a city the size of Burleson and its location to the southern part of Fort Worth, Everman and Crowley Texas places well over 150,000 potential audience participates into view, the two smaller fields could possibly seat accordingly no more than 1,200 each with multiple use turf surfaces, and with all that infrastructure around the stadium, shouldn't compete with what will be its business partners, so whereas other minor league stadiums need concessions as a revenue source concepts can be developed that build upon the events aspect with very limited concentration points needed for in game meals so offering to take bidding from food trucks for unique food types would be the best fit for this concept, kids play areas can be utilized into the stadium alone with cooling areas of climate control pools and game centers.

The smaller fields could support a high school hockey team, by using an artificial ice surface allowing for outdoor event and games of hockey in Winter making the setting an experience.

Utilizing technology that could offer heating around the seated area of stadium, and cooling in summer the covered audience spaces could be completely used in comfort, a lot of work is still needed with the project but if all things come together its a win for all involved.

The Rustlers would play only 22 games total for the season, the Texas Independent Baseball League 21u is an academy rookie league designed to develop prospect or pro-ready talent age 21u with an exception for 23u talent.

Class A level baseball is known to be instructional baseball, designed to develop consistent play from potential prospect level talent, those who grow into being consistent usually are able to move up the system and into an affiliate organization, most players who fail to reach a level of consistent play are sometimes career minor league players.

That is not what the Texas Independent Baseball League 21u is nor is that the mission of any of the academies that play within the school trades development setting, if not for special exemptions injury etc. players in the academy are in for one semester including season.
