Granbury Navigators 21u Academy

Posted April 14, 2017

The RDB (Regional Development Baseball) academy will add Granbury into the baseball development class A level program, The Navigators will represent a small market concept being that the city has less than 50,000 citizens.

What will allow the academy to be productive in such a market is it operates as a non-profit non-commerical organization the area does offer around a 100,000 total once Glenrose and other smaller cities are thrown into the 50 mile radius, the city of Granbury is a perfect setting for a 21u academy program, and will support such an organization with modest audience support.

Minor league baseball has been played in the city before but using the outdated model of middle of road talent career minor league players, the operating system of the RDB is that all the potential talent is younger than the teams manager and only prospect level players graded out as being such can enter the academy after the free combine tryout.

More information about the academy training campus to be located in Granbury to support the team will be released later.

The academy will join Waco,Dallas area, Houston area, Fort worth, Cleburne,Burleson, other markets expected to come online in 2019.

Home game profile will be conducted differently in that in an eight to ten academy teams league, games will rotate into two markets on game day bringing most of the academies into one area on game day, so there will be double headers but with different teams played on one day allowing the audience to see the prospect from an opposing academy and brings the scouts into one area to checkout prospects cutting down travel and excuses from a scout for not being able to come see a prospect.

It also means that if there isn't a allowable space for the academy to play home dates within its training market, it will still play and market to its home base audience without ever playing a considered home game, though it will conduct practices and campus training alone with combine testing in the market.

This concept will allow the league to promote its events in a wider format, during the proof of concept era and expand  its market base, in business if you want to sell something you must build a community to sell too this is but one of the many blocks to be used in doing that.
