Jena Cozza Named Co-A-10 Player of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. – Senior Jena Cozza was named the Atlantic 10 Softball Co-Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday. The Minutewomen will play midweek games at UConn on Tuesday and at Boston College on Wednesday.
Cozza paced the Minutewomen to a 4-1 record last week, including two wins over previously top-ranked Fordham. She took eight at bats as the DH in a doubleheader at Rhode Island on Wednesday and made her defensive season debut against Fordham during the weekend, playing all three games at third base. She batted .500 over the five contests with eight hits, seven runs scored, four RBI and her first home run of the season. She struck out just once and walked four times. She posted an on-base percentage of .619 and a slugging percentage of .750. 
UMass is 19-18 overall and 8-3 in league games. Last weekend, the Minutewomen collected their first series win over Fordham since the 2012 season. Since March 11, UMass has won 16 of its last 20 games.
