Kristin Hallam Named CAA Rookie of the Week and GoHofstra Student-Athlete of the Week

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra Softball freshman Kristin Hallam put together a spectacular week for the Pride, earning Colonial Athleric Asccoiation Rookie of the Week and GoHofstra Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
 
The Hamilton, New Jersey, native was 7-for-9 at the plate with a 1.333 slugging percentage and .833 on-base percentage, helping the Pride to a 2-1 weekend over Drexel. Her speed also helped her finish the series with five runs and five stolen bases. She hit a pair of lead-off triples and scored Hofstra's first run of the game in the top of the first inning in all three games, while adding an RBI in Game 3. In the field, she finished the weekend with a 1.000 fielding percentage as the team's starting shortstop.
 
With her hot hitting, Hallam extended her hit streak to 14 games. Over that span, she is batting .568 with a .630 on-base percentage and .750 slugging percentage. She has hit four doubles and two triples, stolen eight bases and recorded eight RBIs and 15 runs.
 
Hallam's stellar weekend helped the Pride clinch the No. 2 seed in the CAA Tournament, which will begin with a matchup against third-seeded Charleston at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park on the campus of James Madison in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
