BOLD Junior Legion Gearing UP For Season Two
Posted May 20, 2017
2017 will be year two of junior legion competition for the BOLD summer baseball program. Junior legion is growing across the state of Minnesota as more programs begin to see a benefit in adding this level of play for their younger players. In 2016, BOLD won the District 7 Junior Legion champioship and represented the district at the state championships in Apple Valley. Though the team lost to two straight at the tournament, they represented outstate baseball well.
This season more communities have started junior legion teams. Enough so that the Minnesota Legion Baseball leadership has noticed and has granted Bird Island the opportunity to host the first ever Division 2 Junior Legion State Tournament. The event will take place August 4-6 with eight teams participating. BOLD, as host, will be granted an automatic berth, as is the legion custom.
Griffin Schaub returns as Head Coach for the team. He will be assisted by Riley Kramer and Wyatt Peppel, who each bring college baseball experience to our program. For the schedule of games and a roster, click on the buttons on the left margin of this site.
