Supers Win Another Chilly One
Posted May 29, 2017
The Supers travelled to Swan River on Sunday May 28 for another cool, windy early season game with the Reds. The first three innings breezed by scoreless as starting pitchers Derek Palagian and Nicolas Arp were in cruise control. Each team would score once in the fourth inning and in the top of the fifth the Supers erupted for six runs and never looked back in a 9-2 victory.
Derek Palagian was the story of the game as he pitched a complete game four hitter to pick up the win. He gave up only two earned runs, one walk and an impressive twelve strikeouts.
Offensively the Supers only managed five hits, but were able to take advantage of seven walks, a hit batter and a few wild pitches to generate nine runs. Kholton Shewchuk continued his torrid start to the season with a two rbi double, while Evan Rostotski had two singles and two rbi. Greg Andreychuk and Palagian each had a single each. The Reds Riley Morden hit a home run over the left center field fence that went an estimated 400 feet.
Defensively the Supers committed only one error the entire evening despite a ferocious wind and chilly conditions.
With the win the Supers record improves to 4-1 on the season. The next game is Tuesday, May 30 as the Reds come to Canora to complete the home and home series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 PM at Al Sapieha Field
