The Supers hosted the Swan River Reds on Tuesday, May 30 on the back end of a home and home. The weather was warm but the Supers bats were scorching hot as they pounded out 14 hits including long home runs from Kody Rock and Travis Mentanko in a 17-6 victory.
Heading into the bottom of the fourth inning the Supers had a 4-2 lead and the game was far from over. However six runs in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth sealed the deal against a depleted Reds pitching staff. Kody Rock and Terry Cumming each had three hits. Colby Parachoniak and Derek Palagian each had two. Rock drove in six runs, while Mentanko had three and Palagian had two. The Supers took advantage of five walks and several fielding errors as well.
The defense had a sub-par night committing four errors but made key plays when needed to get out of a couple jams.
Kholton Shewchuk made his first pitching start as a Super and was in fine form. He pitched five innings, giving up ten hits and five runs but only two of the runs were earned due to sloppy fielding. He had five strikeouts and issued only one walk to pick up the win. Adam Korb came in relief and pitched the final two innings. He gave up just one earned run on two hits and one walk with one strikeout.
