Tie Game in the Brook
Posted May 31, 2017
The Supers travelled to Willowbrook on May 31 to take on the Royals. A see-saw affair with four different lead changes ended up in the always disappointing 7-7 tie.
In the top of the first Terry Cumming led off with a walk. Then consecutive singles by Kody Rock, Kholton Shewchuk and Logan Parachoniak gave the Supers a 2-0 lead. A sac fly by Clint Maduck later on put the Supers up 3-0 after half an inning.
Royals pitcher Tyson Nesbitt would keep the Supers in check until the bottom of the fourth when the Royals scored four runs on three hits and a couple errors to take a 5-3 lead. In the top of the fifth the Supers pulled to within one and would score two in the top of the sixth to take a 6-5 lead. The Royals would once again show their resiliency in the bottom of the sixth by responding with two of their own to take a 7-6 lead. In the top of the seventh, Kody Rock would single and then steal second with one out, setting up Kholton Shewchuk's rbi double to tie the game. Darcy Blommaert would then come in to pitch the bottom of the seventh and shut down the Royals to preserve the tie.
Rock, Shewchuk, and Logan Parachoniak sparked the Supers offence the entire evening, recording eight of the eleven total hits. Rock filled the stat sheet with two singles, a double, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Shewchuk had a single, double, rbi, and a run scored. Logan had three singles, a walk, two runs scored and three runs batted in. Adam Korb showed good discipline at the plate by walking twice with the bases loaded to record two rbi's. Evan Rostotski, Clint Maduck and Bryan Sedley each recorded one hit.
Colby Parachoniak started on the mound for the Supers. He pitched six innings giving up seven hits, four walks, seven runs (three earned) and had an impressive eight strikeouts. Unfortunately some poorly timed fielding miscues spoiled an otherwise good outing and he got a no decision.
With the tie the Supers record is now five wins, one loss, and one tie on the season. The next action is this Friday, June 2 at 6:30 PM in Langenburg vs the Indians. The Supers look forward to playing in front of an always large crowd in the Burg
