Tough Loss to the Tribe
Posted June 4, 2017
On Friday June 2 the Supers travelled to Langenburg to take on the Indians. It was a back and forth game with the Supers taking a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Unfortunately the Indians bats heated up as they pushed across five to take an 8-4 lead. In the top of the seventh the Supers loaded the bases but the final out was recorded on a diving catch in the outfield off a line drive from Clint Maduck as Langenburg held on for the 8-4 win.
Once again the Supers fielding had its issues committing five errors leading to four unearned runs. Derek Palagian pitched five innings and Darcy Blommaert pitched one inning as Palagian was tagged with the loss. Palagian gave up five runs (two earned) on six hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts. Blommaert gave up four hits and three runs (two earned).
Continuing his stellar start to the season was Kholton Shewchuk with two singles, two runs scored and an opposite field home run over the right field fence. Colby Parachoniak had the Supers only other multi-hit game with a pair of singles and two rbis. Greg Andreychuk, Dylan Toffan, Palagian and Blommaert all recorded one hit apiece.
With the loss the Supers fall to 5 wins 2 losses and 1 tie on the season. The next action is Tuesday, June 6 as they play a road game against the Roblin Stars. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 PM Sask time (7:15 Manitoba time) at Currey Park in Roblin.
