Three Dingers Power Supers Over Brew Crew
Posted June 14, 2017
There was a power surge at Al Sapieha Field on Tuesday June 13 as a trio of baseballs cleared the left, center and right field walls as the Supers dominated the Back Forty Brewers 10-3.
Travis Mentanko started things off in the bottom of the first by sending a no doubter over the center field fence for a 1-0 lead. Two batters later Evan (Rook) Rostotski launched a two run home run over the right field fence for a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the 2nd inning Kholton Shewchuk hit his third home run of the year to left field, a three run shot to put the Supers up 7-1, esssentially putting the game out of reach.
Shewchuk was a triple short of the cycle as he continued his torrid hitting on the season. Parkland Expos callup Zach Goulden-Maddin continues to swing a hot bat with a single and double, while Brogan Legebokoff also had a multi hit game with two singles. Also recording hits for the Supers were Phil Sobkow, Terry Cumming, Matt Wilgosh and Adam Korb.
Shewchuk threw his second consecutive complete game on the mound allowing eight hits, three runs (two earned) while striking out seven Brewers batters. It was also his third pitching win of the season.
The Supers defence once again was rock solid committing just one error. The Supers record improved to 7 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties (7-3-2) on the season.
The next home game will be Saturday, June 17 as the Grandview Lakers make their first appearance at Al Sapieha Field since 2009. The game scheduled for Friday June 16 vs the Yorkton Yankees has been postponed to a later date due to a lack of players for the Yankees.
