LLOYDMINSTER, SK – The Saskatoon Diamondbacks outscored the Northwest Pirates 25 to 12 on their way to two wins over the Lloydminster Pirates. In the first game, the Dbacks doubled up the Pirates 10-5. In the second game, the Dbacks beat up on the Pirates 15-7.
Owen Lindberg started the first game for the Dbacks allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 3 walks and 2 K’s. Justen Tehse pitched the next 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 3 walks and 5 K’s. JD Storozynsky was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs while Connor Coverett was 2 for 3. Nolan Machibroda was 2 for 5. Ryan Olchoway and Eric Trakalo were 1 for 2 and 1 for 3, respectively.
Bryce Libke started on the mound for the second game, but had trouble navigating a stormy strike zone and left the game after 3 innings allowing 6 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 5 K’s. Machibroda pitched the next 4 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 5 walks and 7 K’s. The Dbacks offence was led by Ryan Crilly and Tyrone Polson who both went 3 for 4 with 3 and 2 RBIs, respectively. Brayden Tiede was 2 for 3 while Drayson Snell was 2 for 4. Olchoway, Machibroda, Coverett, Trakalo and Ethan Godson each had a hit.
The Dbacks are now 22-10-1 overall and 18-5 in conference play. Their next game is Tuesday night against the Cubs.
