Sammy Fernandez leads the Orange to victory

Senior Sammy Fernandez led the Orange, batting 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run. Sophomore Toni Martin also tripled and finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs. Juniors Bryce Holmgren and Alicia Hansen each drove in one run.
Fernandez hit a leadoff triple in the first and would later score on a Monmouth error. In the fifth inning, Martin cleared the bases with a two RBI triple and Fernandez followed with an RBI single to give the Orange a 4-0 lead.
Syracuse recorded its 500th win in program history with a 6-1 victory over Monmouth.
