Sarah Cornell Named CAA Pitcher Of The Week

For the second time this season, Hofstra Softball sophomore Sarah Cornell has been named Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week.
Cornell helped the Pride (17-7, 3-0 CAA) to a series sweep of UNCW in the opening weekend of CAA play, recording a pair of victories in the circle to improve to 9-4 on the season. She struck out 12 in 6.1 innings in the series opener on Saturday, before fanning nine more in a 14-1 five inning victory on Sunday. In Sunday's dominant win, she allowed just one hit and walked none.
The Westbury, Long Island, native leads the CAA with 128 strikeouts on the season as well as in opposing batting average, holding opponents to a .161 mark.
