Marissa Rizzi Tabbed to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Sophomore Marissa Rizzi was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Red Storm to a 3-1 week, with wins over Iona and BIG EAST foe Georgetown.
Rizzi garnered her first Honor Roll appearance of the 2018 season after putting up a respectable performance in Tuesday’s matchup with Iona before traveling to our nation’s capital where the squad secured their first BIG EAST series win against the Hoyas.
The Manorville, N.Y., native capped off a stellar week in Friday’s finale with Georgetown as Rizzi lifted the Johnnies to victory, recording a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to push the Red Storm ahead 3-2 and secure the three game series, 2-1.
Over the four games, Rizzi posted a .462 batting average, recording a team-high six hits in 13 at bats, including two doubles and a home run. In addition the sophomore drove in a total four RBIs for the Red Storm.
With the home run against Georgetown on Friday, Rizzi has now recorded six home runs on the season for the second most on the team. The sophomore has also tallied 26 hits and 21 RBIs over the 2018 campaign.
