Cornell, Dandola Earn CAA Weekly Honors
The No. 25 Hofstra Softball pitching tandem continues to haul in the weekly awards, with sophomore Sarah Cornell earning Colonial Athletic Association Co-Pitcher of the Week, while freshman Sophie Dandola was named CAA Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Cornell threw three shutouts in four starts this week as Hofstra (34-8, 15-0 CAA) extended its win streak to 16 games and remained unbeaten in conference play. The Westbury, New York, native, fanned 11 batters in a 2-0 shutout of Wagner on Tuesday, her sixth time this season with double-digit strikeouts. In addition, she blanked Drexel twice in the weekend series, including a one-hit effort in Game 1. Cornell finished the week with a 1.31 ERA and 29 strikeouts, while holding opposing batters to a .147 average.

Dandola also had another strong week in the circle, finishing with a pair of wins. She threw a career-high 10 strikeouts in a 16-1 win over Wagner on Tuesday before allowing just one earned run in Game 2 against Drexel. She posted a 1.20 ERA on the week while holding opposing batters to a .205 average.

The pair have combined for a 1.68 ERA this season, which ranks second in the conference, while holding opposing batters to a league-leading .192 average. Their combined 257 strikeouts also top the CAA.

This week's honors mark Cornell's third and Dandola's fifth awards.
