Week 1

The opening week of the SWBL season saw things pick up just as they left off last year, with the defending champion Oak River Dodgers flexing their offensive muscle in an impressive 3 game stretch.  2017's most potent offense continued to roll into this season scoring 33 runs in their three contests, paced by Dayton Heino who factored in on nearly 1/3 of those runs while batting .556 with 5 RBI and 5 runs, leading the Dodgers to a 2-1 record.

Oak River's lone defeat came at the hands of the Hamiota Red Sox who have started the season a perfect 2-0.  Both wins came via walk-off hits, one in extra innings.  Justin Knight has been all over the base paths early on, reaching base on 7 of his 9 plate appearences score 4 runs and driving in 3.

Joining Hamita atop the North Division standings is the Virden Oilers who also hold a 2-0 record.  Rookie Jordan Cullum has paced their offence going 5-for-6 in those contests with 3 RBI.

Virden and Hamiota square off in Week 2 on Wednesday, May 30th to see who can run their record to 3-0.
