Outlaws claim 2018 Father's Day tourney championship!
Posted June 18, 2018
For the first time in 8 years, Mother Nature decided it was time to let the annual father’s day tourney go ahead, and gave us a beautiful weekend for ball.
The Outlaws started the tourney off Friday night against the Dodgers. After trailing most of the game , the bats exploded in the 7th, leading to a 15 run inning.
Final score was Outlaws 20- Dodgers 10. The win came at a cost though, as Donkey broke his finger early in the game. Gim and Moose came in relief and helped secure the win.
Saturday saw the Outlaws take on the Guns in the morning , and the Kindersley Stallions in the afternoon.
Lindy threw a gem in the morning game, holding the Guns to 3 runs. The offense managed to put up 6, leading to a 6 -3 win , putting the Outlaws at 2-0 to start the tourney.
The afternoon game got off to a rough start against Kindersley, with the boys finding themselves down 9- 2 after 2 innings. Arty came in and shut the door in relief, and the fellas chipped away, however couldn’t muster enough to complete the comeback. Final result was Kindersley 9 Outlaws 7.
This put us in a must win Sunday morning against Marysburg. Win and we are in the final, lose and we are done.
Bess took the mound and managed to keep the potent Marysburg bats off balance for 5 innings, with Lindy coming in relief for the last 2. Kapp had a great day at the dish, delivering a base clearing double to put the Outlaws up for good.
Final result was a 6 to 3 win, and a date booked for the final at 4 :30.
After the remaining round robin games were completed, the final was set between the Outlaws and the Hoppers.
Marco took the bump and had a strong outing, but ran out of gas in the 5th. Kapp came in for a few batters, and Sass came in for the remainder of the game.
After 6 and half, the Outlaws went into the bottom of 7 down 6 to 3. Herp delivered a huge triple to set the come back up, and the boys rallied to score 4 runs to complete the comeback, and take the 2018 Father’s day tournament title.
All in all, an entertaining weekend of ball for the fans, great weather, cold beers, and an Outlaw win. Well done Boys!
Next action for the Outlaws is Thursday June 21st , 6:30 at Cairns, against the Guns.
