Centennials Clinch Early

With the season just two-thirds complete, the Boissevain Centennials (10-1) have already clinched the South Division pennant.  With a 9-7 victory over the Deloraine Royals (4-5) Tuesday night, they completed the season sweep over the Royals and earned themselves home-field advantage throughout the first two rounds of the playoffs.  Led by the SWBL hits leader Patrick Vandorne (25 hits) and the league's two best ERAs, Zane Sawyer (1.04) and Skylar Canada (1.29), the Cents have won 9 in a row and have destroyed teams by an average of 5.63 runs per game.

Week 4 also brought some separation atop the North Division standings as two teams, the Hamiota Red Sox (7-2) and the Rivers Comets (7-2) both went undefeated during the week. The Comets can attribute much of their success, including their current 6-game winning streak, to the long ball, amassing a league high 10 home runs this season, led by Dana McNish and Mike McFadden who are tied for the individual league lead with three apiece. Hamiota won both their Week 4 games, and sit tied atop the division led by a pair of Top-5 hitters in Brody Robinson (3rd, .583) and Justin Knight (5th, .536).

Finally, the Elkhorn Expos (3-7) kept their playoff hopes alive with a couple of big victories during Week 4.  Mike Stevenson led the way in those two contests going 4-for-6 with a HR and 3 RBI.

Week 5 is a light one on the schedule with just nine games, though it will be a pivotal one for the Wawanesa Brewers (2-6).  The Brewers are right in the middle of a heated race in the South Division, and they have back-to-back games (Thursday @ Deloraine and Friday @ Hartney (2-7) to try and secure one of the top 3 spots in the division.
