Only One continues to skid, Looks to bounce back vs Flandreau
Posted July 2, 2018
After losing in a tight game vs Madison, Lennox Only One looked to add a win against Dell Rapids PBR.
PBR jumped out early in the first, but it was the 5 run fourth inning that blew open a 7-0 lead. Later, Lennox would score as Ryan Pingery stole second and advanced Grant Sweeter home to make it 7-1. A late run would make it 8-1 and give PBR their third win of the year.
Lennox would then play a game in Lennox as the guest team as Humboldt's field was too wet.
It was a quick and quiet first three innings as Humboldt's Blake Svoboda struck out eight of nine hitters in the first three innings and pitcher for the Only One Drew Sweeter struck out all nine of the first three inning hitters.
Lennox threatened in the 4th and the 6th innings but were unable to score. After six and a half scoreless innings, Humboldt posted a three run inning after a two out error scored two runs. That was followed by a double to make it 3-0.
Lennox would bounce back with a two run two out rally in the eighth. It started with a two out single to left field by Tyler Leisinger scoring Pingery and making it 3-1. Then Chris Kropuenske hit a single up the middle to make it 3-2. Lennox would stop there and Humboldt would post a two run bottom of the eighth and open a 5-2 lead.
The Only One went quiet in the 9th and fell 5-2. Lennox was led well by pitcher Drew Sweeter who went the distance striking out more than 10 hitters. He allowed only 2 earned runs and 4 hits.
Lennox has fallen in four straight games and is looking to bounce back this Thursday against Flandreau. Lennox has already defeated Flandreau at a final score of 4-1 in 12 innings.
With Flandreau on a hot streak and Lennox on a cold streak, it won't be an easy game for the Only One. Fan support will be a good addition to helping the Only One team. Make a trip down to the ball park as Lennox will have a big home game this Thursday at 7:30!
