Outlaws win 2018 Senior provincials!
Posted August 6, 2018
The Outlaws travelled to Regina this past weekend, in search of the provincial title, and a chance to represent Saskatchewan at Westerns in Moose Jaw on August 17-19.
First match up was against Moose Jaw on friday afternoon. Newly acquired Marshall Dean took the mound for the Outlaws and pitched a gem. The offense wasnt great for the Outlaws , but they managed to put up 4 runs, which would prove to be enough. Final score Outlaws 4, Moose Jaw 2.
Game 2 was against Marysburg. The boys hopped out of the gate to a 3 run lead , only to see Marysburg tie it up in the 3rd. A good response in the bottom of 3 got those runs back, and the Outlaws kept the pedal to the metal and cruised to an 11 to 3 victory. Donkey was solid as always on the bump, adding another win to his totals.
Game 3 was against Regina. Marco took the mound and pitched a real beauty. Only problem was the Regina pitcher had the Outlaws number all night, and the boys couldnt get any runs to support Marco. Final score was Regina 3 , Outlaws 0.
Due to this result, this set up a one game , winner take all final on Sunday at 1 against the Outlaws and Regina.
This game was one for the ages. The Outlaws had a 3 nothing lead going into the 5th. The Trappers battled their way back and tied it up. With a couple chances to win it the Outlaws couldnt score, and eventually the game went into extra innings. Regina took the lead in the top of 9 4 to 3.
Marco came up with a huge double. Donkey got intentionally walked. Sass hit a huge double to score one and tie it up,with Donkey getting thrown out at home. This set the stage for the big man, Gimmer. With Sass on 2nd, the boys needed a hit and Gim delivered with a walk off single, capping off one of the best ball games i have ever seen or been a part of, and added another provincial title to the Outlaws resume.
Hell of a job boys!
The Outlaws will now represent Saskatchewan at westerns in Moose Jaw , August 17 to 19.
