Hoppers defeat Outlaws in City Semis
Posted August 15, 2018
The Outlaws started playoffs on Monday against the Hoppers. The winner of the best of 3 series would book themselves a date in league finals, starting Aug. 21.
In game 1, Danno took the mound and pitched the complete game victory, striking out 11 . Final Score Outlaws 4, Hoppers 1.
Game 2 was a polar opposite , as Parker Mcrae threw a complete game shutout for the Hoppers, allowing 1 hit. Moose pitched well for the Outlaws , but usually one hit doesn’t provide much run support.
This set up the rubber match on Tuesday at 9.
Kapp got the start and went 3 solid innings. Sass came in for the final 3.
The game went back and forth, with the Hoppers going up 6 to 3 in the bottom of the 5th. The Outlaws juiced the bags with none out in the top of 6, with sweet Jimmy Reaser knocking in a couple runs on a single.
This cut the gap to 6 to 5. However the Outlaws couldn’t muster the comeback in the 7th, and the Hoppers will now move on to the city finals next week.
They will play the winner of the Stallions and Marysburg . Stallions lead that series 1 game to 0.
That will conclude the regular season portion for the Outlaws.
The focus now is on heading to Moose Jaw to represent Sask this upcoming weekend at Westerns.
Games are Friday at 10 and 4, Saturday at 1, and Sunday at 9 am. Then hopefully later Sunday , in the final. All games at Ross Wells .
Go Outlaws!
