'Cuse, Dandola Shuts Out Florida A&M

A five-inning, complete game shutout from sophomore Sophie Dandola led Syracuse (4-8) to an 8-0 victory over Florida A&M (1-10) Saturday evening to close out the second day of the Bubly Invitational. The Orange opened the day with an 8-0 loss to No. 3 Florida (16-0).

Dandola (3-2) dished out a season-high seven strikeouts while allowing just two hits and no walks. It was the first shutout of the season for the Orange and the fewest hits allowed since Apr.11, 2018. She faced 17 batters in the five innings, just two over the minimum.

The game marked the third time this season the Orange have recorded nine hits, and the second time this weekend after also doing so yesterday in a 5-3 win over Illinois State.
