BLANCHARD EARNS IVY WEEKLY PITCHER, ROOKIE HONORS

Princeton freshman Ali Blanchard has earned the Ivy League Pitcher and Rookie of the Week softball honors after throwing a no-hitter Sunday against Towson in Clearwater, Fla.

On the weekend, Blanchard struck out 15 batters in 11 innings, fanning eight in Saturday's five-inning outing against Buffalo before striking out out six in Sunday's no hitter.

The Buffalo game began with Blanchard striking out seven batters over the first four innings while giving up two walks and two hits over that span. In the Towson game, the only baserunners Blanchard allowed were on three walks, with just one of those getting as far as second base on a third-inning sacrifice fly. Blanchard struck out seven, with six of those coming between the fourth and sixth innings.

It is the first Pitcher or Rookie of the Week honor for Blanchard and the first of the season for Princeton.
