Freshman second baseman honored for second time this season
Freshman second baseman Marissa Braito has been named the America East Rookie of the Week for March 11-17. It marks the second time this season that she has earned the conference's weekly accolade.
Braito hit a team-best .455 (5-for-11) at the James Madison Invitational this past weekend. She also drew three walks to finish with a .571 on-base percentage. Her biggest hit of the weekend was a three-run triple in Sunday's 13-5 win over Morgan State.
For the season, Braito leads the Bearcats with a .420 on-base percentage and two triples. She also ranks third with a .296 batting average.
Braito is the first Binghamton player to earn multiple America East Rookie of the Week honors since Jessica Rutherford was chosen twice during the 2015 season. Her previous selection came back on Feb. 19 following the season-opening CSUN Early Bird Classic.
