A game to remember: Bardo vs Tofield

The first game of the season is to bring out nerves and excitement. Tonights game brought out parkas and a heater.

The Tofield Lakers and Bardo Athletics played all seven innings in a game that had, not a rain delay, but a snow delay.

Peter Rogers, home plate umpire had to call the game in the 6th inning for 15 minutes because of the challenges he had to see the ball through the snow to make the call.

I asked Ken Parent if he had ever played in colder weather let alone the snowfall in his lengthy P.B.L. career, and his answer was an obvious no. No one on the diamond remembered playing on a colder night.

Both teams were more than happy to get the game over with, but the night was somewhat special in that the full game was played, and both teams experienced a night of ball they won’t soon forget or want to be part of any time soon.

Chris Mittelstadt was the winning pitcher tonight going five innings. Chris Kallal came in and closed the final two innings. The final was 10-4 Bardo.
