Good Start For Milleteers

The Milleteers kicked off their 2009 season with a win over the expansion Ryley Rebels.

The game featured good pitching and defense from both sides, with neither team walking a batter. The difference in the game however was the Milleteers got that important two out hit with runners in scoring position.

Both starters were on their game as the Milleteers Scott Peterson went five strong innings without walking a batter or giving up a run, then rookie Murray Doyle came in and locked down the save.

The only trouble Peterson faced all night was in the first inning when the leadoff hitter hit a bloop single and then with one out another hit put two runners on.

Those were the last two runners to reach base however as the Milleteers defense was solid all night. Ryley hurler Dylan Solberg also had a good outing as he did not walk a batter either and scattered seven hits, with the only runs coming off a third inning single.
