Bardo moves to 2-0

The Armena Royals travelled into Bardo Thursday night hoping, along with the Athletics, that the snow and cold would not be the headliner in this game.

The diamond had taken a good dose of rain at about 4pm, but the grounds crew had it in just good enough shape to play game 2 of the regular season schedule.

The game started and ended quickly. Ray Lehman and Clark Banack pitched for their respective teams which came out of the first inning 3 up 3 down.

The second inning was going the same way, but 3 errors would allow the Athletics to score 2 runs in the bottom half of the second inning.

The Athletics would then chip away a little each inning, and with timely hits by Gary Yurkowski, the Athletics would continue to build on the lead. Don Oslund came into close the 7th inning for Lehman and the Athletics would go onto win the game 9-0.

The game was a lot tighter than the score would indicate. Clark Banack pitched a good game, and it was great to see Joel Boettger “Pumps” behind the plate for Armena, stellar as usual, but some timely errors on a weathered field cost the Royals.
