Royals ride Boettger over Rebels

Joel Boettger pitched a complete-game five-hit victory as the Armena Royals won their second game in a row.

The Royals found some holes and picked up some runs early on against Rebel starter Corey Epp. But most of the hits weren’t well-struck, just hit in the right spot. Three in the first followed by two in the second gave Armena starter Joel Boettger all the support he needed.

Boettger worked his way through the first six innings without giving up a run. Some solid defence also aided the veteran hurler.

It wasn’t until the seventh inning when Boettger gave up a couple hits, followed by a two-out error by second-baseman Lee Palmer, allowed the Rebels to pick up three runs and squashed Boettger’s chances at a complete game shutout.

But the Royals were happy nonetheless. They now head to Camrose for the Roadrunner Inivitational before continuing their regular season home stand with tilts versus Leduc and Bardo next week.
