Rebels Give Armena A Royal Treatment
With another undermanned lineup yet again, the Rebels were able to pull off a huge victory over the visiting Armena Royals, 18 – 5.

The Rebels offense came out swinging going up 8 – 2 after two innings of work, and that was all that Rebel RHP Corey Epp needed to hold on to a complete game victory. A scoreless 3rd inning led into a 4th inning which saw the Rebels score 3 to Armena’s 1, and Armena’s 2 in the 5th was overshadowed by the Rebels scoring another 3 runs in both the 5th and 6th innings. However Epp was not without his struggles as he walked 8 Royals. “I had some control problems again, and beat the $#@% out of Curt (Stensrud) behind the plate” said Epp. “Most of the curveballs seemed to be bouncing three feet in front of home plate.” But like family should, they were able to work it out by the 6th inning as Epp was able to keep the Royals off the scoresheet in the 6th and 7th innings.

The offense was led by 2B Kyle Reinholt as he went 4 for 5 with 5 RBI’s, OF Dustin Solberg, 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI’s, and 3B Travis Bugge going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s. With his 5 RBI performance, Reinholt takes over the RBI lead from Kris Kushnerick and ties Kushnerick with the second most RBI’s in a single game this season, 5. OF Corey Epp holds the record with 6 RBI’s (all in one inning) which was accomplished at Bardo Day against the Tofield Lakers. With the Rebels offense going 17 for 35 (.486) for the game, they increase their team batting average to .325 on the year.

An interesting fact, the Rebels and the Royals have each scored 23 runs in the season series, Armena leads 2-1. Armena won the first game 11-3 and the second game 7-2, while the Rebels pulled off a 18-5 victory in the third and final game.

The Rebels will next see action at the annual Ryley Sports Days Baseball Tournament this weekend as they start the tournament off tonight against the Camrose Roadrunners, who are coming off 2 tough losses in league play. A larger then normal crowd is expected to take in the game tonight in Ryley, as it is the first Friday night game that the Rebels will play this season.
