Yankees clean sweep in 58 Honours List

So if this is what CBF Baseball means bring it on we say. With the TB title a one horse race it was left to individuals in the Yankees to fight amongst themselves for the season honours. The batting title race went down to the wire and at the end Yogi Berra had pipped Mickey Mantle by one point, but amazingly Norm Siebern, overlooked for most of the season, had scraped enough plate appearances to qualify and beat both of them in the finish. In a team of all stars it looked for parts of the season that Mantle would fail to ignite but as they say form is temporary and class is permanent. Mantle has the latter in bucketfuls and when you look at the season ending statistics the MVP title was a formality. If the batting race was exciting the pitching match up was a knockout from early season. Whitey Ford was practically unhittable finishing with an ERA of 1.29 and 8 wins, including 6 complete games and 4 shutouts. Remarkable. Similar could be said for Golden Glove winner Bill Skowron. Moose had 246 put outs and not one error.
So that's the TB done and dusted. Who can challenge the Yankees from the PL? The regular season has finished and for a long stretch it seremed like season favorites, the Braves, would underperform. But again class would out and in the season ending match ups they proved too strong seeing off the challenges of the Giants and the Indians who must duel it out in the play offs starting on Friday.
On current form though it is hard to see any of those three matching the Yankees over 7. But we shall see.............
