Milleteers retake first place
After being on the losing end of a pitchers duel the night before, the Milleteers won one tonight. Aces faced off tonight in Leduc as Steven Pahl took the mound for the Milleteers and Dylan Solberg took the mound for the Ryley Rebels in a battle that had possible playoff seeding implications as the Milleteers were tied for first and the hard charging Rebels were trying to ride a win streak into home field advantage in the first round.

The Milleteers struck first as catcher Shane Gerein hit a deep fly to right that the right fielder lost in the high sky that turned into a long stand-up triple. Kevin Doyle then promptly cashed him in on a solid single to right. That was all the Milleteers would need tonight as Pahl had his slider working and the umpire had a generous strike zone, which translated into a four hit, fourteen strikeout shut out. The only trouble all night came in the fifth as a couple of hits and an error loaded the bases with one out, but Pahl then struck out the next two hitters to get out of it.

The Milleteers chipped in a couple of insurance runs as shortstop Greg Jackson had a two for two night and scored a couple of runs on top of his normally excellent defense. The Milleteers are taking the weekend off, but will be back in action on Tuesday as Ryan Walker is going to get the start against his brother Mark in Armena. The Milleteers hope to go on a little winning streak to end the season to try and secure home field advantage for the playoffs.
