Reds Hit The Road for Three League Games, Two Home Non-League In Next Two Weeks

The Crookston Reds season should finally start to feel like it's rolling this week.  Beginning Wednesday the Reds will play five games in nine nights and 17 games over 32 days.  That stretch includes more than half the regular season games in the Red River League with three vs. Ada, three vs. Moorhead and one against Dilworth.

Wednesday, May 29

Reds at Ada A's 7:30 p.m.

The Reds travel to Ada for an early-season showdown.  Hate to say it's a must-win game, but when there are only four teams in the league starting 0-2 can be hard to overcome.  The Reds have lost nine straight to the A's including all six matchups last season.  Ada can hit, and so can the Reds, although the bats always seem quieter against the A's.

Thursday, May 30

Reds at Moorhead Miners 7:30 p.m.

This could be a very tough game depending on how the Reds feel coming out of Wednesday's game with the A's.  The Miners had a down year after winning the 2017 regular season title.  The Reds have won the last three games in the series.

Monday, June 3

Fargo Mets at Reds 7:35 p.m.

The Reds will host the Mets for the second consecutive season.  The Reds beat the Mets last year 7-4.

Wednesday, June 5

Reds at Dilworth Raildogs 7:30 p.m.

Regardless of what happens in the next week, this is a game the Reds would like to win to even the season series.  That said as was proven last year, in a four-team league you can get swept by a team and still end up one of the leagues top two seeds.

Thursday, June 6

Moorhead Brewers at Reds 7:35 p.m.

The Brew Crew come to town after another third-place finish in Class B last year.  That's four consecutive years the Brewers have finished 2nd or 3rd. Last year the Reds offense still wasn't clicking when the Brewers came to town.  The Brewers hit the ball extremely hard and the Reds can't help them out like they did last year with 5 errors.

Region 10C Update

Only three teams have been in action thus far.  All against one another.  Dilworth beat Crookston in a rain-shortened game and then Crookston beat Thief River Falls in an ugly game that featured 10 Crookston errors.

Ada - will be in the hunt for another state tournament trip this summer.  They can mash the ball, although rumor has it they may be short on arms a bit.

Bemidji - The Blue Ox had a tough year with injuries and were still a win away from the state tournament.  Expect them to be an extremely tough out again.

Crookston (1-1) - Lost a lot of innings and while they picked up some new arms it always takes the Reds a while to settle in.

Dilworth (1-0) - Seems to be a pretty similar squad and that means a pretty decent team that's looking to take that step forward.

Marble - A really tough young fiery team.  They are the right age to keep getting better and they finished fourth in the region out of the starting blocks.

Moorhead - A tough year last year falling from first to last in their league.  Competing for players with two B teams, two C teams and at least one North Dakota team has to be tough. Good thing Fargo/Moorhead is a baseball community.

Roseau - Supposedly they are "for sure" back based on the recent intelligence I was given.  No idea who they'll have on the squad.

Thief River Falls (0-1) - Still a young squad, but don't let that fool you.  If you take their age for granted they will beat you.

Warroad - The Muskies put together a solid team last year and look to keep building on that.  With Roseau returning they may lose a player or two.
