Armena Forces A Third Game

fter being walked off in game one by a dramatic home run, the defending Powerline Baseball League Champion Armena Royals did not roll over for game two. Instead they announced their presence with authority in a commanding 11-2 win over the Rosalind Athletics.

Details about the game were not made available but the Royals are now heading into their fifth straight playoff series which has reached a game three. The last time Armena was in a playoff series that resulted in a sweep, was the 2015 PBL Championship Series when they defeated the Rosalind Athletics 2-0. In 2016 the Royals defeated the Beaumont Angels 2-1 in their PBL Semi-Final Series before losing 2-1 to the Rosalind Athletics in the PBL Championship Series. After missing the playoffs in 2017, the Royals returned in 2018 with a 2-1 PBL Semi-Final Series win against the Holden Blue Jays and a 2-1 PBL Championship Series against the Leduc Milleteers, in which they were down 1-0 after the first game.

Rosalind has played in three game threes since joining the PBL in 2015, building a 3-0 record in those games. In that inaugural season they defeated the Ryley Rebels 5-3 in the third game of the PBL Semi-Final Series. 2016 had the A’s defeat the Armena Royals 9-8 in game three of the PBL Championship Series. In 2017 the Rosalind Athletics won their second PBL Championship by defeating the Holden Blue Jays in game three of their series with a 5-3 win. In their 2016 PBL Championship Series against Armena, the Athletics started with a 1-0 series lead after the first game before the Royals bounced back on the road to even the series 1-1.

Can the A’s hold off a late series charge by the Royals again, or will the defending PBL Champions be able to go on the road to take game three? Fans will have to wait until Tuesday July 30 to find out. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm at the Rosalind Recreation Grounds.

With the Athletics vs Royals PBL Semi-Final Series going three games, the start of the 2019 PBL Championship Series will be pushed back to Thursday August 1 in Vegreville (assuming the weather remains decent). The PBL Championship Series schedule right now is;

Game One – Thursday August 1 – Armena/Rosalind at Holden Blue Jays (in Vegreville)

Game Two – Tuesday August 6 – Holden Blue Jays at Armena/Rosalind

Game Three – Thursday August 8 – Armena/Rosalind at Holden Blue Jays (in Vegreville) *If Necessary*
