Bardo Strikes First

Kent Rude’s RBI single in the top of the ninth inning broke open a tight pitcher’s duel and led the defending champion Bardo A’s to an upset 4 – 1 win over the Camrose Roadrunners on Tuesday night in the Rose City.

Winning pitcher Chris Mittlestadt limited the Roadrunners to just two hits over nine innings as both he and Camrose starter Steve Ofrim went the distance.

Bardo took the early lead, scoring a run on three hits in their first at-bat, after which the game settled into a quick-moving defensive battle, with Camrose tying the game in the fourth with a walk, a single, and a sacrifice fly.

Game two goes Thursday in Bardo.
