Bardo’s game is on

Although Camrose dominated the season series vs the Bardo Athletics, it was never apparant that the defending champs would roll over to a far more dominant team in the regular season. Let’s face it, the Camrose Roadrunners have been the best team over the last couple of regular seasons, no doubt about it.

So when it has come to the play-offs, why have the Bardo Athletics been able to beat the 2007 champs? Some have said it is pitching, others say it is experience, but for most, it is just puzzling. The most potent offence was held to just 2 hits in game one and 6 in game 2, a far cry from the regular season stats. Camrose is intimmidating to say the least when you are on the mound, but for the second time in 2 years Bardo has been able to overcome the mighty scoring machine.

Maybe experience has a huge part, Don Oslund threw another gem tonight, and allowed Camrose to 2 runs on only 6 hits. But Hans Haugen has proven to be not just another chucker in this league, but one who can deliver quality pitches when needed. We all wondered how Hans could hold us to only 4 hits in our earlier meeting, and tonight we found out why?

He has become patient, selective with his pitches, and locations, and shows enormous potential. Hans has made his mark as a pitcher in this league. Don Oslund did as Chris Mittelstadt did a couple nights earlier, and that was shut down the leagues most offensive minded team down.

Ken Braget’s defensive play in the top of the 8th, and Gary Yurkowski’ winning hit marked off an amazing two games that will be remembered for some time by locals.
