Milleteers take game one
Tonight the Milleteer’s bats picked up where they left off last week as they managed to pickup eleven hits in tonight’s ball game. If not for some good Bardo defense and a botched squeeze play they might have been able to scratch out a couple of more runs. After getting a couple in the first, the offense kicked into gear in the fourth as Karl Zimmer and Murray Doyle had back to back hits to get things started.

Then a botched squeeze play that saw Zimmer get called out at the plate on a close call looked like a rally killer, but with two outs Trevor Pahl had a clutch two out single to score a run. Shane Gerien then followed it up with a two RBI single, and then Kevin Doyle capped off the inning with an RBI triple. That would be all for starter Chris Mittlestad, but the Bardo bullpen kept the Milleteers off the score sheet for the rest of the game.

On the mound for the Milleteers tonight was ace Steve Pahl, who ended up with a two hitter, fanning eleven and he only gave up two unearned runs. It was a good thing for the Milleteers that Pahl had the strikeouts going as they were brutal in the infield, as they made six errors. The terrible infield defense was reminiscent of last year’s deciding game between these two teams as the Milleteers made seven infield errors that cost them a close decision.

The Milleteers can end the series tomorrow as game two goes tomorrow night in Bardo where the Athletics are especially tough.
