Weather wreaks havoc on preseason play

The season is just two weeks away, but odd weather patterns the day of planned exhibition games are causing the usual problems.

The Armena Royals had to cancel their exhibition tilt with the Camrose Axemen due to forecasted snow. The Axemen and Rebels could not play a few days earlier in a planned one-day tournament.

Still, teams plan on getting one or two games in before the season begins on May 18. Leduc, Holden and Ryley all have dates set. Armena and Bardo are looking into a possible exchange as well although nothing has been confirmed yet.

The Royals are still planning their preseason tournament with the following approximate schedule:

9:30 a.m. – Armena vs. Ryley
Noon – Bardo vs. Leduc
2:30 – Ryley vs. WG2 or LG2
5-6 p.m. – HR Derby ($20 entry with wood or wood composite)
6:30 p.m. – Armena vs. WG2 or LG2

Games will start sooner than noted time if it is possible. There is no entry fee but teams are encouraged to use the concession, and participate in the 50/50 and have a representative or two in the HR Derby. Proceeds will go to the Armena Athletic Association.
