Milleteers Get Revenge On The Rebels
The Milleteers traveled to Ryley tonight to face the only team this year that has managed to beat them. The Rebels had been on a roll, winning their last three and got a big boost on the mound tonight as All-Star Curtis Stensrud came off the DL to get the start. Stensrud was by far the hardest thrower the Milleteers had faced this year, but that seem to rejuvenate the offense a bit early as they always seem to have more trouble with soft tossers as opposed to flame throwers. After giving up a three spot in the first Stensrud made the adjustment as he started to use his secondary pitches more and more to keep the Milleteers off the board on his way to ten strikeouts.

Ryan Walker got the start for the Milleteers and he had a bit of an up and down night as some innings he was mowing guys down, then others he was wiggling his way out of trouble. He gave the Milleteers a chance to win however, and that is all you can ask of your starter as he went six plus innings, striking out nine, while allowing three walks and four hits.

With the score tied going into the seventh the Milleteers finally started to wear Stensrud out as they had been trying to work deep counts all night. After a leadoff walk and a single number nine hitter Adam Pahl, who had already struck out twice, managed to fight off some tough pitches before singling up the middle to score the go ahead run. Then catcher Shane Gerein singled with two out to get some insurance, but a great throw from the outfield nailed Pahl at the plate to end the threat and keep it a 5-3 game.

In the bottom of the inning Walker allowed a leadoff hit and then an error forced the call to the bullpen. Due to some sore arms on the weekend Steven Pahl came into close, something he has not had to do much of since his closing days for the Wetaskiwin Rockies on the way to a Provincial Title. Pahl got through possibly the toughest middle of the order in the PBL as he got Kevin Reinhold on a sac bunt that moved the runners into scoring position, then got Dylan Solberg to fly out to shallow center and Kyle Reinhold to ground out to second to end the game.

It was a good win for the Milleteers as it keeps them at the top of the standings with a big game with second place Holden on Thursday. Junk baller Shawn Brinkworth is expected to get the start for the Milleteers in this big game match up.
