Walker Nearly Perfect As Milleteers Take Over First Place

Trevor Pahl and Scott Peterson, who had both been in slumps coming into the game also had multi hit games as I guess facing off against one of the league’s best pitchers is a good way to break out of your slump.
The story of the game however had to be Milleteers starting pitcher Ryan Walker. Pitching on short rest and having felt the shame and embarrassment of seeing his little brother get three All Star votes to his zero, despite being 4-0 with a sub two ERA going into tonight, Walker was on a mission.
He ended up with 12 strikeouts and only allowed one base runner on a bloop single in one of the most dominating performances in recent PBL history. The only unearned run he allowed to score was in the fourth when a leadoff bloop single turned into a double when right fielder Steven Pahl tried to throw the runner out at first only to over throw the bag and allow the runner to get to second. Then a passed ball moved the runner to third and a weak grounder cashed the run.
Prevailing in the pitchers duel allowed the Milleteers to cement their status atop the standings with an 8-2 record going into the All-Star break, while the loss puts the Blue Jays back into a tie for second with the Bardo Athletics. The Milleteers now get a much deserved break as they don’t play until July 7th when they host the Tofield Lakers.
