Former PBLers helping Battle River teams

Former Camrose Roadrunners Hans Haugen and Steve Ofrim are continuing to battle it out for their respective teams in the 2010 Battle River Baseball League Playoffs.

Haugen’s Rosalind Athletics took the regular season title with an 8-1 record. Ofrim’s Heisler Cardinals took second with a 7-2 finish.

Playoffs saw the top eight teams qualify and play best of three series. Rosalind, Heisler, Killam and Stettler advanced with 2-0 series wins in the first round.

Semi-finals are in progress with Killam up on Heisler 1-0 and Rosalind up on Stettler 1-0 as of Tuesday afternoon.

There was some unofficial talk earlier this year of pitting the two winners of both the Battle River Baseball League and Powerline Baseball League against each other in some sort of challenge possibly this year or next.

It’s still unclear whether this could come to fruition at some point.
