Epic semi-finals continue

It’s another classic Bardo-Leduc playoff series.

The previous two seasons we’ve seen these two teams battle to the three-game limit. Once in a semi-final series that ended with Bardo moving on and winning the league title. Last year when Leduc edged Bardo in the championship.

Now they might break their own record and try for a rare fourth game in the series. At any rate, they’ll play another three game series at the very least as Game 2 is basically washed from the books and replayed in its entirety back in Bardo.

Some might think this is unprecedented, but it’s not. Ironically, the league members even addressed and added a provision to put it in writing just this year if this occurred.

And it did.

But remember in 2006, almost four years to the day, in game one of a semi-final series with the same Bardo Athletics? The Brewers and A’s battled to the exact same 5-5 score in 10 innings. Bardo went on to defeat the Brewers in replayed game one, and game two for the “sweep” so to speak.

At the time, Bardo’s Ray Lehman called it “one of the most memorable games of his life,” in 2006. 2010 is surely to be more memorable maybe.

Not putting the history lesson aside, we’re seeing the best first round of Powerline Baseball League playoffs since 2006 as the Ryley Rebels forced a game three with the Holden Blue Jays after a game two 13-8 victory. Neither team has yet to win at home.

Generally in the past few years, we’ve seen some real snore-fests and blowouts sometimes in the semis. Well not this year.

It all sets up an interesting Thursday night as we could see a championship set for next week, or yet another deciding game between the Milleteers and Athletics.
