White Sox and Braves lead the way

The real story of the TL was the early season form of the Yankees. They stormed into a 13-5 record and looked unstoppable. However, they only posted a desultory 3 wins in their final 12 to find themselves paced by the surging White Sox and Dodgers. No post season for the Bombers. The season record between Chicago and Los Angeles is tied so the series could be a thriller, if the base on balls disease that has plagued TL all season can be overcome.
With the Braves in total control, and the surprise package Phillies close behind, the main PL excitement concerned the fight for third, and the final post season spot between the Giants and the Indians. With the Indians final two games on the road at Phillies and Braves the league were expecting a one off play off game to decide matters. After losing in Philadelphia and travelling to Milwaukee to face Warren Spahn the Indians decided to write their own script. Tito Francona stepped up to despatch the first long ball given up by Spahn all season into the centre field bleachers. For managing what nobody else has achieved all season Tito is this week's highlight pic.
