Posted May 13, 2011

The Ryley Rebels improved to 3-0 on Tuesday night as they defeated the Camrose Roadrunners 5-3 at the Ryley Ballpark.

RHP Kris Kushnerick recorded the win, his first of the season on a 5.67 inning, 3 hit, 6 walk and 5 strikeout performance versus the Roadrunners. RHP Curt Stensrud came in to close the door in the sixth to earn the 4 out save, his first of the season. RHP Josh Banack was able to keep the Rebel hitters off guard for most of the game and had lady luck on his side as even the balls that were blazing off of the Rebel bats were caught by some extraordinary defence behind him.

SS Corey Epp and CF Josh Lyons recorded 2 hit games while Epp and 2B Brian Tavaroli each drove in 2 RBI’s a piece in the victory.

Of the 8 hits collected by the Rebels, 5 were extra base hits (4 doubles and 1 triple). C Dustin Solberg collected his second triple in as many games on an opposite field line drive in the fifth inning.

The 3-0 start to the 2011 season is a complete turn around from the 0-3 start in each of the last two seasons for the Rebels.
