Milleteers Top Rebels

Milleteers Top Rebels
After being involved in some sloppy and wild games so far this season the Milleteers finally found themselves in a well played ball game as they battled the undefeated Ryley Rebels for first place. Ryan Walker got the start for the Milleteers as he just made it in time for the game from Ft. Mac and he was just what the doctor ordered for an ailing pitching staff that had given up an average of seven runs per game this season. He held the powerful Rebel bats in check for five innings, only giving up one unearned run before turning it over to closer Jon Anstey who got the two inning save. For the most part the defense was good tonight for a change, and it had to be with the amount of balls the Rebels put in play.

On offense the Milleteers did not have the same success against Rebel starter Corey Epp as they had seen in the last few games, but it did enough ton win, with the big blow coming from a deep two out triple from catcher Shane Gerein in the third after a hit and an error led to two runners on. The Milleteers would add another insurance run in the fifth and the three run lead held up.

The Milleteers now get to rest up for a busy schedule next week as they host Bardo on Wednesday, head to Holden on Thursday, then play in the Camrose Axemen tournament on the weekend.
