Banack, Roadrunners topple Jays

The Camrose Roadrunners finally got their first win of the season last night thanks to some fine pitching and clutch hitting beating the Holden Blue Jays 4-1. Josh Banack pitched a complete game, allowing only 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 8 Blue Jays.

The Roadrunners struck first in a defensive battle in the 3rd inning thanks back to back singles by Luke Anderson and Josh Banack followed by a bases clearing double by Warren Boychuk. Camrose would strike again after Holden walked both Marcel Lesway and Luke Anderson to lead off the 5th inning.

The Blue Jays would proceed to load the bases for Camrose after Josh Banack was hit by an errant pitch. Tim McTavish drove in 2 more runs with a bloop single to right field.

The Blue Jays were finally able to get on the board in the bottom of the 7th courtesay of a bobbled ball and a run scoring double by 3rd baseman Johnny Thorawsky.

After giving up the run, Banack settled in and gave up only a single before the defense stepped up and stymied the rally with Banack finishing off the game the same way he started it, with another strikeout.
