Walker Brothers Team Up To Blank Holden
In a rematch of last year’s final the Milleteers were too much for the
shorthanded Blue Jays tonight. After a slow start where both teams were held hitless
for the first three innings the Milleteers exploded for eight runs after an
error got the rally started. Holden stater Steven Hrabec probably deserved a
better fate, but with many regulars missing, his defense let him down as the
Milleteers used a combination of hits, walks, and errors to keep the line
moving.

Ryan Walker got the start tonight as historically he has faired well
against Holden, and tonight was no exception as he only allowed one hit and
struck out seven in four innings. His only trouble came in the first as he
stranded a leadoff walk at third. His brother Mark came in and pitched two
scoreless innings in his Milleteers debut on the mound as he struck out two and
walked two. New closer Drew Boyer came in and capped off the shutout with a
scoreless seventh.

The news was not all rosy as promising youngster Kirk Smith sprained his
ankle beating out a ground ball at first. In a freak accident he stepped on the
ball on the errant throw as he ran through the bag. After a quick trip to the
hospital and a shiny new walking cast he will be out at least a month.

Next up will be a road game in the comfy confines at Ryley, as the
Milleteers take on the slugging Rebels.
