Crazy start to PBL season

If it were not for two scrappy comebacks this week by last year’s finalists, the standings would look mighty upside down after two weeks into the Powerline Baseball League’s 2012 edition.

The Leduc Milleteers retook first place soley and the Blue Jays got back to .500 but it looked as if the Camrose Roadrunners and Armena Royals would have top spot until about 8:45 p.m. Thursday night.

Still, due to some early upsets and lack of regular players on some of the historically stronger teams, every team has a win after 3 and 4 games, and everything will be up for grabs yet again.

I would not be surprised if we see another playoff or tie in the standings.

Will we see a battle for first place finally with the Milleteers? Maybe not. But after comments hinted the Milleteers were maybe too good for the league, the Ryley Rebels went out and shut them down, and the Camrose Roadrunners took them to the brink.

The league is small but mighty. Rusty but scrappy. And parity exists on any given night depending on who shows up.

Here’s to another dozen games for everyone that have the same topsy-turvy outcomes as weeks one and two have.
